Wales - April/May 2002

Of course, it was nice weather beforehand, but being Wales we pretty much expected what we got for the first few days - dreary drizzle! These pitures were taken the day we arrived - the first couple are out of the back garden and the others looking out of the first floor window. Bad weather, nice view!

The various ponies that lived just behind the cottage, and a nice peacock too!

The front and back of the cottage. The second shot shows the difference in weather from the start and end of the week pretty well! Also a good example of wideangle lens use, it was taken at an equivalent focal length of about 24mm (on a 35mm film system). Check this out for before and after use of the Photoshop Pinch filter to get rid of the barrel distortion.

Taken on a 10 minute stroll up the lane from the cottage to the main road.

On the beach at (if my memory serves me right) Criccieth. Making sandcastles!

On the way up towards Snowdon. I like the last picture so much that you can see a version cropped to my taste at 1024 width here.

On the Lake Railway at Llanberis

In and around Harlech, on the way down to...

The beach again!!! (well, a different one but same theme). The bottom two pics show pretty well that the sun was shining but it was far from tropical! Your faithful author had to try his hand at the art of sandcastle building...

Just a few pics I took at the Welsh Mountain Zoo (if I'd gone mad I'd have taken hundreds but luckily was running low on camera memory space by then!)

So there you go... We might have had rain for the first few days (and the rest weren't half cold) but it was still a nice week away :)
